IPL
A full spectrum of light for spots, redness, and veins at once.
IPL, intense pulsed light, is a noninvasive treatment that uses broad spectrum light to target pigment and redness in the skin. It is commonly used to reduce sun damage, age spots, broken capillaries, and unwanted hair.
How IPL works
Unlike a laser's single focused wavelength, IPL emits pulses of light across a broad spectrum from roughly 400 nm to 1200 nm. The energy reaches the deeper layers of skin, where it is absorbed by specific targets: melanin in brown spots and hair, or hemoglobin in broken capillaries and redness.
The light converts to heat and clears the targeted cells while leaving surrounding tissue unharmed. That versatility lets IPL fade age spots, liver spots, and freckles, diminish spider veins, rosacea, and broken capillaries, and inhibit future hair growth at the follicle.
Spots darken like coffee grounds and flake away within about a week, revealing clearer, more even skin.
Questions we hear
A laser uses one wavelength. IPL uses a broad band of light, so a single session can address brown spots and redness at the same time.
